Description

Get up close to the detail of the solar eclipse with this pencil featuring a full colour digital wrap of images from the 2016 phenomenon that was observed from Palu, Indonesia. This pencil is a great add-on item to go with the matching notebook and pen from The Sun: Living With Our Star exhibition range. This range makes use of a montage image showing the various stages of a solar eclipse from first contact, though totality to final contact. Total solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun and can only be seen from a small area of the Earth's surface. At totality, the solar atmosphere (corona) becomes visible. This total solar eclipse was observed from Palu, Indonesia on 9 March 2016. Totality lasted for around 2 minutes. The time from first contact to last contact was around 2.5 hours.
