Geo my first microscope

This microscope is a practical, safe introduction to the world of biological science for little people. Its magnification is not great but it is certainly more than a toy.

Robust design but x8 magnification isn't that exciting

The concept of this is really good. It introduces small children to lab equipment in a really child-friendly way: brightly-coloured, well-made, easy to use. It doesn't really magnify beyond what one can see with the naked eye, though, so risks being counterproductive as there isn't the sense of wonderment at what is suddenly revealed. We'll persevere with it, and it wasn't terribly expensive to be fair, but I'd rather pay more and have something that is more inspiring.
